How to Install Solar Powered Street Lights?

Sep 19, 2024
As the representative of green lighting, solar street lights are leading the lighting industry to develop in a more environmentally friendly, efficient, and intelligent direction. In the future, with the continuous innovation of technology and the further reduction of costs, solar street lights will be more widely used around the world and contribute more to building a green and low-carbon world. For users who choose solar street lights as lighting tools, when we receive solar street lights outdoor, how should we install them? First, we should check whether the following accessories of the solar energy street lights system are complete, including: light poles, solar panels, batteries, controllers, light source lamps, foundation embedded parts, etc. After ensuring that the accessories are complete, we can prepare for installation!

1. Determine the installation location.

Solar powered street lights installation location should ensure that it can receive sufficient sunlight and avoid being blocked by trees or buildings. In addition, we must ensure that our installation complies with local regulations and standards.

2. Mark the installation location:

Mark the location of the light pole according to the design drawings to ensure uniform spacing to meet lighting needs. Next, you can dig a pit according to the size of the light pole. The depth of the pit depends on the size of the light pole and the soil conditions. If the soil is soft, it can be deepened appropriately; at the same time, it is necessary to confirm that there are no other facilities under the excavation location (such as cables, sewers, natural gas pipelines, etc.).

3. Foundation pouring:

When installing solar street light outdoor, foundation pouring is an important step to ensure the stability and wind resistance of the light pole. Determine the size and depth of the foundation pit according to the height of the street light pole and the soil conditions on site. Generally speaking, the depth of the foundation pit is about 1/10 to 1/6 of the height of the light pole, generally 1-2 meters deep.

After digging the pit, the embedded parts are positioned. When embedding, the flange should be ensured to be level, and a level can be used for calibration. The height of the exposed part on the bolt should be left enough to ensure that the bottom of the light pole can be properly fixed. Then pour concrete to fix it, ensuring that the concrete is dense and without gaps. Put the light pole into the embedded parts and calibrate its verticality. Fix the light pole with bolts to ensure stability. After the concrete surface solidifies, make corrections.

4. Install solar panels:

The solar energy street lights panels should be installed in a sunny place to avoid being blocked by buildings or trees. Generally, the panels are installed on the top of the light pole or on a special bracket on the upper part of the light pole. The angle of the panel is also very important. It should usually be adjusted according to the local latitude. The inclination of the panel is similar to the local latitude angle. If it is located in the northern hemisphere, the panel should face due south with an inclination angle of about 30-45 degrees to maximize the reception of solar energy.

Next, connect the wires of the solar panel to the controller, and be careful not to connect the positive and negative poles in reverse. Check the connection of the wires to ensure that there is no poor contact or disconnection. Confirm that the angle and direction of the solar panel are correct, and ensure that the bracket and bolts are firmly fixed.

5. Install lamps:

When installing lamps, pay attention to the height and angle of the lamps. The installation height of the lamps should be determined according to the width of the road and the lighting requirements. Higher lamp poles are suitable for wide roads or squares, and lower lamp poles are suitable for sidewalks or gardens. The angle of the lamp should be adjusted so that its lighting range covers the area that needs to be illuminated to avoid insufficient light or waste of light. Usually the lamps of solar energy street lights are installed at the top of the lamp pole to ensure uniform lighting.

6. Debugging:

After all parts are installed, check whether all wires are connected correctly, ensure that the output of the solar panel is normal, and the battery is charged normally. Test at night to ensure that the solar energy street lights can work properly and the controller can automatically turn on and off the lights according to the lighting conditions. After everything is normal, the control box can be sealed.

After installing the solar street light according to the above steps, it can work normally. The solar energy street light is also very convenient to use and requires almost no maintenance. It only needs regular cleaning. If you have other questions about installing the solar street light outdoor, you can contact us. As
